Pain is hugely limiting to mobility and it is also a key welfare issue. It has so many negative influences on the body including suppression of the immune system and inhibition of muscle function. Pain control is crucial to successful rehabilitation.

Pharmaceuticals play an important role in pain control. We may prescribe additional or different medications as part of a pet's program. This would always be discussed with the referring vet and in most cases long-term medication will be supplied by the referring vet. For many patients we are able to reduce or withdraw the use of pain relief drugs over time, but only if satisfied that all welfare needs are met.

Treatment used in the clinic such as acupuncture, chiropractic and soft tissue techniques are effective adjuncts to medicinal pain management. They can also be very useful for cases who do not tolerate certain pain medications.
